Praying

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

How Our Worldwide Bible Reading Group Started

While cleaning my Grandmother’s antique desk, I noticed some papers lodged behind one of the drawers. It was a church bulletin from 1945. Inside was the American Bible Society"s "Worldwide Bible Reading". It was a call to Believers around the World to read the same chapter each day, starting Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day. The World at this time was recovering from the end of World War II. Most of us can only imagine what that devastation was like.

My Prayer at this time, Eight decades later, is that this request be made again. May the Church in One Body, Mind, and Spirit join together each day to read the same Chapter and Pray for one another. In honoring all our Veterans, Families and our Nation, let us set aside all our differences and stand as ONE in CHRIST our LORD and SAVIOR.

Suggested Prayer:

Please read the Chapters, in the three Readings, by starting with Prayer.  Praying for these scriptures and asking the Holy Spirit to make them a part of our lives each day.
Let us ask Him to:

“Open our eyes to the wondrous truths of Thy Word”
Psalms 119:18

That we may:

“Delight ourselves in Him that He may give us the desires of our hearts”
Psalms 37:4

May that desire be His first commandment:

“Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength, this is the first commandment. And the second is this; Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these”.
Mark 12:30-31
